Betawinese Yapong Dance, as commonly known for its function as a performance and social dance, first got its fame on the annual anniversary of Jakarta in 1977. With dynamic and erotic movements, Yapong dance tells us about the victory of Prince Jayakarta. Yapong dancers clothing style portrays the characteristic  colors of Betawi culture. Some patterns on the fabric also point out the elements of Chinese culture that became a major influence to Betawi culture in the period of time. Yapong is a part of the Betawi ethnic pride.
